Who Runs the Church? |
Church politics can be troublesome. We can become so wrapped up in fear of various church decisions that we lose sight of Jesus. It doesn’t matter what the denomination or the particular vocabulary used, we are still dealing with human beings. The origin of the word politics is in words for city and citizen. As long as we have two people in a church we are going to have politics. In
Matthew 14:22-33 it was Peter who took his eyes off Jesus and looked at the troubles around him. Just like Peter, we too can look at the waves and winds of church politics and become afraid. Are we afraid of the homosexual agenda, the feminist agenda, the liberal agenda or the fundamentalist agenda? These things come and go, but Jesus remains. Let us keep our eyes on Jesus.
