As Jesus is the cornerstone upon which the Church is built, so are his teachings the unifying cornerstone of Christian doctrine.

Ultimate Fellowship

There is often an amazing bond among families. A shared history and genetic similarities that show up in things like how we think, our tastes and sense of humor can make it a joy to be around siblings, cousins, children and parents. Family picnics and gatherings can be among the most delightful times of year. Yet, the bond between Christians is sometimes closer than family. Cults have been known to exploit this by excluding family, but that was never the example that Jesus set. During a time when his physical family initially denied his mission, he said hyperbolically that his followers were his family. In Mark 3:35 Jesus said that whoever does God's will is his brother and sister and mother. This is the ultimate meaning of fellowship. Christian gatherings ought not be just social events, but can involve a depth that surpasses even the natural bonds of physical family.
