Many would be offended to think that a Christian is a professional gambler. But, I tell you that unless you are, you are not a Christian at all. What kind of crazy claim is that? Think about it for a minute. What is a professional? A profession is an open declaration of a belief, faith or opinion. It involves a calling and specialized knowledge with preparation. Christianity is a profession and also a gamble? We may have bet on the horses, a business, a card game, a crop, or the stock market and won or lost. There is one gamble that is a sure bet. So, if you'll pardon my play on words, a Christian is a professional gambler, making the best bet in town. "Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful." (Hebrews 10:23) You can bet your life on Jesus Christ.
