Great Peacemakers |
When Jesus spoke of conflict resolution in
Matthew 18:15-20 he did not mandate nor insist that we go to our brother or sister over every tiny infraction. In the overwhelming majority of cases, the beatitude that blessed are the peacemakers reigns supreme (
Matthew 5:9). Going to our brother or sister alone is for those times when they have a fault that would otherwise disrupt our lives, the lives of the church or we are too weak to tolerate. Some people have such a low tolerance for the foibles of others that they become the problem, a nag. Their inability to make peace with the peccadilloes of others is itself a disruption to the peace of the group. Before we even take the first step to resolution, we need to ask our selves if we are the bigger problem.
