| His Seed |
A parable found only in Mark 4:26-29 is about a man who scatters seed. He just throws seed on the ground. We often talk about the need to have a target audience for the gospel, yet this man scattered kingdom seed without a care.Weekly altar calls are not wrong, but they are not mandated in the Bible and are relatively recent. They can incite emotional decisions rather than true repentance. They also they have a high failure rate perhaps because they seem to focus a church's attention on quick decisions more than long-term discipleship. Is there a better way?
Notice that this seed is only cast once. Does this parable infer a more care free use of our energies in the scattering of kingdom seed, rather than being overly anxious? Certainly, the kingdom of God is like a man who cast seed on the ground. That's what Jesus said.
