As Jesus is the cornerstone upon which the Church is built, so are his teachings the unifying cornerstone of Christian doctrine.

The Worst Gamble

How much are we willing to gamble? On the one extreme are very low risk situations like getting out of bed. People have had heart attacks or slipped and fallen during this simple act. However, in the majority of cases it a very minor risk, a gamble we willingly take. There are also middle of the road bets that we may make such as getting an education, operating a business or driving in traffic. We know there are dangers, but realize that the risk to reward ratio may be in our favor. It is a calculated bet, but a favorable one. Then, there are risks that most of us are unwilling to take. Base jumping, day trading and sky walking come to mind. For most of us the gamble is too hazardous. Perhaps the worst gamble of all would be to ignore the warming of Hebrews 2:3 and neglect salvation.
